Brian Foley

Brian Foley leads research and development at Laser Thermal, with a focus on extending the company’s thermal metrology methods into application domains where nanoscale heat transport is most consequential.
He earned his Ph.D. at the University of Virginia, followed by a postdoctoral position at Georgia Tech and four years on the faculty at Penn State. His research spans thermal transport, RF and microwave electronics, and terahertz systems, a breadth that directly informs the measurement challenges Laser Thermal addresses.
At Laser Thermal, Brian develops novel metrology methods that expand what can be measured and at what length scales. His work is focused on applications where thermal properties at the nanoscale determine device performance and reliability: high-frequency and power electronics, solid-state lasers, and photonic devices. A full list of his publications is available on his Google Scholar page.

Francois Martin

Francois Martin is Marketing Manager at Laser Thermal. The company makes precision instruments for non-contact, non-destructive thermal conductivity measurement, serving the semiconductor, power electronics and thermal management industries. He oversees how Laser Thermal tells its story, from technical content and sales collateral to video production, webinars and trade show presence. The goal is to make the company's science clear and useful to the engineers and researchers who rely on accurate thermal data. Francois brings more than 25 years of marketing and executive leadership experience. He was VP of Marketing at Nelson Miller Group, an outsourced manufacturing provider for OEMs. Before that, he spent more than two decades at WorldStrides, rising from Marketing Director to Senior Vice President in the Office of the CEO.
